Jackson, Billy Joe

Billy Joe Jackson, age 80, of Ballard, WV, passed away Friday, July 21, 2023 at his home in Ballard, WV. Born March 21, 1943 at Ballard, WV, he was the son of the late Joe F. and Myrtle Broyles Jackson.

Billy Joe served his Country in the U.S. Army and was a Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a lifelong farmer and he retired from the Celanese Plant with 43 years of service. Billy Joe loved to hunt and loved tending to his farm animals and his garden. He was a simple man always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone. He was a great storyteller and he loved God and was of the Baptist Faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas Jackson and his wife Doris; and sister-in-law, Patricia Jackson. Left to cherish his memory is his loving family and wife of 56 years, Diana Crawford Jackson of the home; His loving son, Joseph Daniel “J.D.” Jackson and wife Kristin; special grandson, Allen Joseph “A.J” Jackson; brother James D. Jackson of Lewisburg, WV; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Diana always said, “he loved her family as much as he did his”.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 24, 2023 at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown, WV with Pastor Andy Howdock officiating. Burial will follow in Orchard Cemetery at Ballard, WV, where the West Virginia Honor Guard will conduct Military Graveside Rites. The family will receive friends Monday, July 24, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Gary Campbell, Mark Jackson, David Jackson, Steven Wood, Chuck Lester, and Daniel Brown will serve as pallbearers.
