Ashworth, Gloria Jean

Gloria Jean Ashworth, 65, of King, N.C. and formerly of Christiansburg, died Monday, June 11, 2007 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.

She was born August 31, 1941 in Battle Creek, Mich. to Fred Cecil and Florence Mildred Bain Vipperman. Mrs. Ashworth was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Alvin Ashworth, Sr. in 1998.

Surviving are two sons, Robert A. Ashworth, Jr. and wife, Lisa Deanne, and Patrick Lee Ashworth and wife, Kristi Nichols, all of King, N.C.; four grandchildren, Brealon Patrick and Braden Doyle Ashworth, Sibylla Elizabeth Ashworth, and Keeley Rae Cuthrell; one sister, Patricia Vipperman Matherly of Christiansburg, Va., and one brother, Roy Lee Moore of Walkertown, N.C.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. this evening, Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at Slate Funeral Home in King, N.C. Graveside services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday, June 14, 2007 in the Westview Cemetery in Blacksburg, Va.

The family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service at McCoy Funeral Home in Blacksburg. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
