Duncan, Oakley Miller
Oakley Miller Duncan, 86, of Pulaski passed away Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2006. He was born in Pulaski on Nov. 2, 1919 and was the son of the late Bert C. Duncan, Sr. and Claudia Mae Robertson Duncan. He was also preceded in death by seven sisters and five brothers.
Mr. Duncan was a veteran of the United States Navy during World War II. He retired from Burlington Industries in 1985 with 30 years of service. He was a faithful member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Pulaski where he served on numerous committees and church council.
Surviving are: his wife, Mary Lee Duncan, Pulaski; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ellen and Jay Dawson, Kinston, N.C.; granddaughter, Cynthia McNaull, Charlotte, N.C.; sisters and brother-in-law, Beatrice and Steve Mitchell, Pulaski, Elizabeth Hughes, Pulaski, Ethel Sirt, Bennettsville, S.C., Cora Jones, Dayton, Ohio; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday from the Trinity Lutheran Church, Pulaski with Pastor Terrie Sternburg officiating. Entombment will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens Mausoleum, Dublin. Visiting will be Thursday evening from Stevens Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m.
