Ellison, John Lewis

John Lewis “Johnny” Ellison, age 60, passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2023. Born December 19, 1962, in Peterstown, WV, he was the son of the late John Henry and Annie K. Lane Ellison.

Johnny enjoyed working outdoors and spending time looking at the beauty of nature. He recently planted a garden with his daughter, Kelli, which was so much fun for him. He enjoyed teaching others how to do many things, whether it be building a porch, repairing a tractor, or changing the oil; he enjoyed fixing everything around the house. He also enjoyed being a truck driver and working for JA Boggs Trucking in Pickaway, WV. He loved fishing (especially at their pond with Kelli), watching Gunsmoke with Darla, his dogs, WVU, and Jesus. He was always ready to talk about his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Johnny was a great man who will be sorely missed by his family, friends, and everyone that knew him.

Those left to cherish Johnny’s memory include his loving wife of 39 years, Darla Hill Ellison; one daughter, Kelli Ellison; five sisters, Connie Albright of Buffalo Mills, PA, Karen Brooks and husband Randy of Peterstown, WV, Bethel Trump and husband Roy of Verona, VA, Wanda Davis and husband Billy Joe of Knoxville, TN, and Linda Cornwell and husband Larry of Germanton, NC; brother-in-law, Steven Hill and wife Mary of Princeton, WV; mother-in-law, Bonnie Dickson Hill of Princeton, WV; and his first cousin, Kenneth Ellison and wife Ardie of MD. Also, he was a beloved uncle to his many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00PM on Sunday, May 21, 2023, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown, WV, with Pastor Walt Bonnell officiating. Burial will follow at the Peterstown Cemetery in Rich Creek, VA. Visitation will be held from 2:00PM until time of services on Sunday at the funeral home.
