Richards, Laura Vivian

amem_blueridge.jpgLaura Vivian Richards, 87, of Christiansburg, died Friday, June 8, 2007 at the home of her daughter. She was born in Alleghany County, Virginia on November 12, 1919 to the late Wiley J. and Seatta Swisher Anderson and was also preceded in death by her husband, Sherman A. Richards.

She owned Laura’s Beauty Salon for over 40 years in Blacksburg.

She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Cathy R. and John Slusser of Christiansburg, and Sandra R. Alderman of Roanoke; sister and brother-in-law, Martha and Bill Morgan of Sun City, Calif.; brother, Dewey Anderson of Selma, Va.; five grandchildren, Chris Slusser of Christiansburg, Hollie and John Porter of Bedford, Tony Alderman, Roanoke, Angela Harman of Roanoke, Laura Alderman of Cascade, Va.; and six great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be conducted Monday, June 11, 2007 at 2 p.m. in Westview Cemetery, Blacksburg. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the home of Cathy and John Slusser, 385 Overhill Drive, Christiansburg.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Central & Western VA Chapter-Roanoke Region, 2728 Colonial Ave., Suite 2, Roanoke, Va. 24015 and Humane Society of Montgomery County, P. O. Box 287, Blacksburg, Va. 24063.
