Margaret Virginia Seymour, 95, of Pembroke, departed this life Saturday afternoon, March 29, 2014 at Radford Health and Rehab Center in the care and presence of her devoted and loving family. Born in Charlotte, NC on October 11, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Douglas and Maude Virginia Collins McNeely.

Margaret, by anybody’s standard was a refined and Christian lady, was a faithful member of Pembroke Christian Church (DOC) serving as elder, worship chair and on the official board; a active member of The Order of The Eastern Star, Pearis Chapter 124, serving as Worthy Matron and in other offices of the lodge, and was a retiree of the Celanese Plant at Narrows, having worked in Bobbin Stores.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands Frederick William Snyder and Robert Seymour; and her daughters Louise Snyder Barton and Joyce Snyder Johnston.

She leaves to cherish her memory her grandchildren Susan Osgood, Rev. Sally and Nelson Good, D R and Cathie Barton, Chuck and Kendra Johnston, Sarah and Doug Blackwell, Douglas and Kim Barton and Duane Osgood; her great-grandchildren Lydia, Emily, Jason, Margaret, Joshua, Katie Megan, Nick, Anita, Aaron, and Grace; her great-great-grandchildren Jordan, Hannah, Emma, Alexander, and Liliana; her devoted and faithful son-in-law Doyle Barton of Radford; and her sister-in-law Marie Snider.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, April 3, 2014 at 11:00 am in The Pembroke Christian Church with Pastor Reggie Britts, The Rev. Gina Rhea, and The Rev. Sally Good officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at The Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 pm. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to The Pembroke Christian Church, P O Box 35, Pembroke, VA 24136.
