Dillon, Dorothy Hayes

Dorothy Faye Hayes Dillon, known to her friends as “Dottie”, 84 of Narrows, Virginia heard well done thou good and faithful servant as she entered into her Heavenly Home with her Lord and Savior on April 14, 2023, in the loving care of her family. Born May 13, 1938 in Lonoke, Arkansas she was a daughter of the late Dan and Marie Henderson Hayes.

A young lady full of grace and beauty, Dottie would capture the hearts of many, but especially the eye of one particular sailor named Malon “Herb” Dillon while she was out on the basketball court in Little Rock, Arkansas. Together they formed a beautiful life, where their highest calling was met as they became a family and would add Daniel, Jeffrey, Josef, Kimberly, and Shannon. Dottie was a Momma first and if you were a kid nearby, she would assist you to also prosper. In their youth, Dottie and Malon desired to come to Malon’s home in Virginia assisting a young preacher to build a church, joining the family of faith at Bethel Chapel. She was a burning light in the church serving as Youth Director, was the voice of introduction to many plays and to the Voice of Bethel, and enjoyed singing her sweet alto with the Liberty Singers. Not only did she enjoy partaking in the music, but she also appreciated deeply the gifts of others. The outside of her home was filled with beauty as Dottie would often be seen planting flower beds or gardens. If going by her home you would often find her reading a good book to fill her heart.

In addition to her parents Dottie is preceded in death by her husband Malon Herbert Dillon; her son, Jeff Dillon to whom she loved fiercely; sisters, Allie Mae Pennington, and Edna Jewell Gorbet; and brother, Tommy Hayes.

Left to cherish her memory in their hearts are her sons, Daniel Dillon (Doris), and Josef Dillon (Brenda); daughters, Kimberly Yuvanavattana (Opel), and Shannon Dillon; grandchildren, Travis Oakes, Gordon Oakes, Justin Oakes, Jeremy Yuvanavattana, Melody Mays, and Cassel Mosschetto; 18 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and countless incredible friends.
