Miller, Jr., Raymond Leonard

Raymond Leonard Miller, Jr., age 81, passed away on Thursday, August 10, 2023, at the Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, WV. Born March 29, 1942, in Ballard, WV, he was the son of the late Raymond L. Miller, Sr. and Jessie Harrison Miller.

Leonard was a U.S. Army Veteran and retired from Celanese in Narrows, VA, after 37 years of employment. He enjoyed hunting and was known as the deer and turkey whisperer. Leonard and Brenda’s happy place was by the creek and up the holler at Blue Lick. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Danny. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife and soulmate, Brenda Mann Miller of the home; two daughters, Lynessa Miller and fiancé Darryl Guy (Coleman and Logan) of Dallas, NC, and Cassie Miller & Randy Whittaker of Peterstown, WV; one brother, Richard L. Miller and wife Eleanor of Ballard, WV; and one sister, Linda Miller Crawford of Peterstown, WV. Additionally, Leonard was known as Papaw to Waylon Mann (Rebecca) and children Grayson and Riley of Peterstown, WV, Garrett Mann (Taylor) and daughter Lyra of Radford, VA, and Aaron, Jalen, and Nolan Miller, all of Peterstown, WV. Also surviving are many other extended family members that he loved dearly, and the Blue Lick crew, Carl, Ron and Sylvia, Jim and Sue, and Lewis and Beth.

In keeping with Leonard’s wishes, he will be cremated. A graveside service at Peterstown Cemetery will be announced in the coming days.
