Handy, Leonard S.

Leonard S. Handy, Jr., age 71, passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at the Peyton Hospice House in Lewisburg, WV. Born March 23, 1951, in Lindside, WV, he was the son of the late Leonard and Waneta Cole Handy.

Leonard had several different jobs, including at the Greenbrier and Pulaski Furniture. He also did some farming and logging work. He was a beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and uncle.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Willie Jed Handy; two brothers, Marvin Eugene Handy and Roger Dean Handy; and two sisters, Wanda Marie Crawford and Mary Margaret Blankenship.

Survivors include three sons, Leonard S. “Dunnie” Handy III and wife Kandi of Bozoo, WV, Eric Kirt Handy and Austin Keith Handy and wife Kristy, all of Peterstown, WV; three brothers, Jackie Handy and wife Kathy of Ballard, WV, Melvin Handy of Lindside, WV, and Anthony Handy of Peterstown, WV; three sisters, Pamela Herring of Peterstown, WV, Lorine Handy of Lindside, WV, and Melinda Handy of Rock Camp, WV; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Sunday, January 15, 2023, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown, WV, with Rev. Steve Howdock officiating. Burial will follow at the Chambers Cemetery in Lindside, WV. Visitation will be held from 1:00PM until time of services on Sunday at the funeral home.
