CROY, Charles Garnett

Charles Garnett Croy, 77, of Blacksburg, died Sunday, February 12, 2006 at Montgomery Regional Hospital. He was born in Montgomery County, Va. on September 15, 1928 to the late Ralph Wilson and Grace Fleetwood Jones Croy and was also preceded in death by a brother, Dalbert (Pete) Wilson Croy.

He was a 50 year member of the Eggleston Masonic Lodge #309 A.F. & A.M., where he was a past Grand Master. He was also a Charter member of the Long Shop-McCoy Fire Department. Garnett retired from Hercules after 34 years of service. He was also a member of the Blacksburg Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Anna Mae Croy of Blacksburg; a son and daughter-in-law, Norman and Wendy Croy of Blacksburg; five grandsons, Charles, Camden, Caden, Carter, and Cordell Croy; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Joanne and Darwin Alt of Manassas, Va., Donna Jean and Roy B. Jr. (Brownie) Miller of Long Shop, Gaye C. and Samuel Linkous of Christiansburg, Faye Croy of Christiansburg, Janet Crittenden of Christiansburg; a brother, Julian (Pooch) Douglas Croy of Radford; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Janice (Peggy) and William S. (Bill) Hollar; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, February 16, 2006 at 11 a.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Terry Peck and the Rev. Dewey O. Weaver, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the McCoy Family Cemetery, McCoy, Va. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Long Shop-McCoy Fire Department, P.O. Box 489, McCoy, Va. 24111.

Friends may call anytime after 12 noon Wednesday, and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr., Blacksburg.
