Ruby Smoot Pool, age 91 of Dublin passed away Monday, December 30, 2013 in the Commonwealth Assisted Living, Radford, VA. She was born in Ruby, South Carolina to the late Dennis Grady Ratliff and Mary Rebecca Allen Ratliff. She was also preceded in death by her first husband and the children’s father, Elmore Smoot; her second husband, John E. Pool her son, Darrell K. Smoot; and her sisters, Blanche Allen and Mildred Wilkes. She was a long time member of the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Mt. Jackson, VA. She loved gardening and quilting. Mrs. Pool was a victim of Alzheimer’s disease and spent her closing days at Commonwealth Assisted Living in Radford. Surviving- Daughter and Son-in-law- Mary Lee and John Campbell-Dublin.,VA. Four Grandchildren- John Campbell, Jr.-Buckhead, GA., Kelly Clarke – Sandy Hook, VA., Jennifer Griffith of Clarksville, TN.and Darrell Smoot ,Jr.-Columbia,S.C She was blessed with Six Great Grandchildren- Lacey and Blake Campbell, Jack and Alex Clarke, Ellie Griffith and Haleigh Smoot. Two Brothers- Roy Ratliff – McColl S.C., and John Ratliff- Aiea,Hawaii. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 2, 2014 at 2:00 p.m.in the Bower Funeral Home Chapel, Pulaski with Pastor Terrie Sternberg officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until service hour at Bower Funeral Home, Pulaski. Graveside services will be held Friday, January 3, 2014 at 2:00 p.m., in the Mt. Jackson Cemetery, Mt. Jackson, Virginia with Rev. Matthew A. Diehl officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials in her memory be sent to the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, P.O.
