Martin, Joanne Miller

Joanne Miller Martin, 68 of Pearisburg, VA went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Martin was born on November 5, 1945 in Honaker, VA and was a daughter of Virginia Cook Boyd and the late Beecher Elbert Miller.

Mrs. Martin was a member of Angels Rest Baptist Fellowship and had a great love of teaching Sunday School. She also was an avid Giles High School Spartan football fan, did a lot of volunteer work at Macy McClaugherty Elemetery School and loved her many trips to the ocean with her family and friends.

Besides her mother, she is survived by her husband of 50 years, Walter Raymond Martin of Pearisburg, one son, Darren W. Martin and wife JoyLeigh of Pearisburg, two brothers, Lewis Miller and Randy Miller both of Dublin, two sisters, Linda Altice and husband Mike of Salem, Kathy Dye and husband Tim of Pulaski, one grandson, Dakota Stanley-Martin of Pearisburg and three special nieces, Haley, Kylie and Rylie Johnson.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, December 14, 2013 at 11:00am at the Givens Funeral Chapel in Pearisburg with the Rev. Craig Whittaker officiating with burial following in the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the Givens Funeral Home Friday evening from 6 – 8 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
