Burke, Matthew John

Matthew John Burke, age 51, of Blacksburg died, Monday, December 2, 2013. He was born in Ithica, New York on June 18, 1962 to Carl E. Burke and the late Elsa (Kicki) Burke. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents Matts and Mercedes Gronlund, Richard and  Emma Burke. He was a graduate of Blacksburg High School and Winthrope College. He was currently employed part time while working towards an associate degree in computer science at NRCC. He is survived by his daughter, Emma Lynn Burke, father, Carl E. Burke, sister and brother-in-law, Christine and Patrick Brady, all of Blacksburg, nephews, Michael Secrist of Fayetteville, N.C., Marcus Secrist of Blacksburg. The family will receive friends from 6-7:30pm Thursday evening at the McCoy Funeral home, Blacksburg. Private burial will be held at a later time.
