crockett beatrice vaughnBeatrice Vaughn Crockett, 97, of Christiansburg passed away peacefully at Lewis Gale Hospital, Montgomery on November 17, 2013. She is preceded in death by her husband, Rupert Crockett; her parents, John and Inez Rollins Vaughn; son, Rupert Crockett Jr.; grandson, Jack E. Snell; sister, Melinda Barrett; five brothers, Commas Vaughn, Israel Vaughn, Melvin Stewart, John Hampton Vaughn and Leslie Dean; son-in-law, Maya Snell Sr. She is survived by her son, Claude A. (Margaret) Shabazz of Radford; daughter, Beatrice Dolores Snell of Christiansburg; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. Mother Bea was a loving mother and grandmother. She will live in our hearts forever. She was a dedicated person and a very very hard worker. She was a member of New Mount Olive United Methodist Church; member of Jones Chapter of Eastern Star #81 OES; delegate member of the Order the Eastern Star Tri Community Chapter #238 OES-PHA of Virginia ; in 1984 she was presented a certificate of honor in recognition of outstanding service performed for order of Eastern Star Jones Chapter #81 OES. On the 27th Day of January 2011 Mother Bea was presented another certificate for her unconditional Love and dedication from order of the Eastern Star Tri community Chapter #238 OES-PHA of Virginia. Mother Bea retired from Radford Community Hospital. On April 27, 1977, she was chosen to cut the ribbon at the Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony for dedication of Critical Care Center and the scissors were framed. She was known for wearing hats everywhere and making the best homemade rolls around Rock Road here in Radford. The family would like to express their appreciation and thanks to her caregivers, Heritage Hall Nursing Home and Staff; Lewis Gale Hospital Montgomery, and their staff. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at New Mount Olive United Methodist Church in Radford on Russell Ave at 2 p.m. The interment will follow in Sunrise Burial Park in Fairlawn. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Arrangements by Serenity Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
