Crigger, Stanley Everett

fire-rescueStanley Everett Crigger went to his heavenly home on September 20, 2013. Throughout his life Stan’s care and concern for those who were less fortunate was his primary focus. His interest in people was unmatched whether as a fireman, policeman or Emergency Management leader. Stan’s chosen career in Emergency Management led him to many counties, cities, and towns throughout the commonwealth of Virginia. He was proud to have been able to serve his community during the Virginia Tech crisis and traveled the country teaching safety on college campuses. In recognition of his heroic support he was presented a lifetime Hokie football pass and personalized football jersey. Stan spent his off-duty hours devoted to his family. He loved to vacation wherever there was an opportunity to fish and ride horses. He enjoyed the grandchildren and how proud he was of each one. Another family of Stan’s was in the roping arenas. A national finalist as a heeler with his roping partner Moss Boone, he taught many young men how to rope and compete. He and his wife, Sharon, shared their love for horses with their family and many others. Stan will be dearly missed by all of his family, as well as his extended families: Pulaski County Emergency Management, Dublin Fire Department, Dublin Fair management, Virginia Department of Emergency Management, and his roping buddies. Stan is predeceased by his father, Walter Crigger; and infant sister, Margret. He is survived by his loving wife, Sharon; his mother, Edith; his sons, James, Greg and Moss and respective wives, Karen, Melissa and Linda; his brother, Duane and his wife, Hilda; his brother, J.W. and his wife, Francie; his sister, Lois and her husband, Otis; his sister, Elva; his grandchildren, Jordan, Nathan, Grace, Skylor and Cole; sister-in-law, Linda Ely and her husband, Richard; a special nephew, Steve, and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 24, 2013, from 4 to 8 p.m. at New Dublin Presbyterian Church. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 25, 2013, at New Dublin Presbyterian Church, led by Pastor Andrew Taylor-Troutman and assisted by Stan’s good friend and co-worker, Pastor Neal Turner. Interment will follow the service in the Church’s cemetery.
