Joyce Glenn Weber, 81, died at her home on Sunday September 15, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Larry, her parents Thomas Wingfield and Mina Lee Glenn, and her five dear siblings. She is survived by her children, Cathy Lacy, Terry (Roger) Robinson, Asa (Donna) Weber, Joan (William) White, Joseph (Sylvia) Weber, and Michael (Sandy) Weber, eleven grandchildren, Adrienne Lacy, Brittany Lacy, Thomas Lacy, David (Heather) Robinson, Brian Robinson, Brandon Robinson, Samuel Robinson, Lauren White, Courtney Weber, Justin Weber, and Aaron Weber, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was born on July 27th 1932 in Pensacola, Florida. After graduating from Pensacola High School, she received her RN from Charity Hospital in New Orleans in 1953. She then returned to Radford University and earned her Bachelor of Science in nursing in 1981. Always the patient advocate, her experience ranged from student health, to operating room supervisor at Montgomery Regional Hospital, to Vice President of Surgical Services at Lewis Gale where she was instrumental in the development of their open heart program. Joyce was a spiritual women who loved her church. She was a past Minister of Religious Education at St. Mary’s Catholic Church for seven years, and was a daily example of her faith to all. She was active in scouting, PTA, DAR and Bridge Club. Books were her constant companion, and her beautiful embroidery and knitting are treasured. Joyce loved the beach, which is a source of peace to us all. A funeral mass celebrating her life will be held on Thursday September 19th at 9:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Blacksburg. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery. If so desired, donations may be made to Saint Mary’s building fund, 1205 Old Mill Road, Blacksburg, Va. 24060. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 18th from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., with Rosary at 7:30 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
