Howard, Dorothy Irene Lovern

Dorothy Irene Lovern Howard, our loving Mother, Grandmother and Friend, 83, of Christiansburg, went to be with her Saviour Wednesday, April 11, 2007 at Kroontje Health Care Center in Blacksburg.

She was born in Roanoke, Va. on February 24, 1924 to the late Kyle Edward and Alberta Hill Lovern. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Hamilton Howard; a son, David Lee Howard; and a sister, Dessie Odell McCulley survived by a brother-in-law, Kenneth Howard of West Palm Beach, Florida. She retired from Owens Dining Hall at Virginia Tech.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Darlene H. and Tom Shaver of Dublin and Carolyn H. and Donald Wingo of Blacksburg; two sons, Harvey Emory Howard of Blacksburg; former daughter-in-law, Lois Howard; and son, Delmer Wayne Howard and fianc�e Ellen Buton, of Ironto. She leaves behind 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews. Also special friends, Mardell Hylton and Elsie Sheppard and many other friends. The family would like to thank the nurses, aids, and staff of the Kroontje Health Care Center.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, April 13, 2007 at 2 p.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Harold Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery, Blacksburg. The family will receive friends Friday from 1 to 2 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr., Blacksburg.
