Farris, Margaret Owens
Margaret Owens Farris, 89, of Pulaski, died on Tuesday, August 27, 2013, in the Pulaski Health and Rehab Center. She was born in Pulaski on December 31, 1923, and was the daughter of the late Walter Clayton Owens Sr. and Sallie Smith Owens. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Luther C. Farris; a sister, Kathleen O. Folden; and by a brother, W. Clayton Owens Jr. Mrs. Farris was a member of the First Baptist Church for over 70 years where she served as Sunday school teacher, church treasurer and was a member of the choir. She was also very active in mission work as president of the U.M.W. She was Past Matron, and 50-year member, of the former Pulaski Chapter 113, Order of the Easter Star. Mrs. Farris graduated from Pulaski High School in the Class of 1941. She held the position of Pulaski County Treasurer from July 1973 through December 1987. In 1996 she was chair of the Electoral Board. She is survived by her nephew, Mark A. Folden and his wife, Rhonda, of Floyd, Va. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 30, 2013, from the Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Aaron Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. Visiting will be at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 10 a.m. on Friday until the service hour.
