Bruce, Edith Gerlean

Edith Gerlean Bruce, 89, of Fairlawn, died, Saturday, August 3, 2013, at her home. She was born in Pulaski County, on September 24, 1923 to the late Atlas Burnett and Effie Hamilton Giles. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Donald Louis Bruce Sr., a daughter, Sandra Bruce Moss, brothers, Claude Giles, Herman Giles, sisters, Helen Blair, Cova Graham , and Ruth Giles.

She was a longtime member of the Fairlawn Church of God. She was a loving devoted mother and homemaker. She is survived by her sons, Donald Bruce Jr., of Norwood, N.C., Roger D. Bruce, of Belspring; brother and sister-in-law, Harry and Shirley Giles, of Belspring; sister, Josephine Bruce, of Belspring; sister-in-law, Dallas Giles, Belspring; special niece, Brenda Gilbert; special friend, Betty Greene; friend and caregiver, Doug Franklin. Thanks to Carilion New River Valley Hospice, Phyllis Bessler, and Lola Martin for the care they provided. Funeral Services will be conducted Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at 2 p.m. in the Fairlawn Church of God with Pastor Terry Bowden officiating. Entombment will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin, VA. The family will receive friends from 12 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Fairlawn Church of God, Fairlawn, VA.
