Linkous, Mary Catherine

Mary Catherine Linkous, 84, of Pembroke and formerly of Christiansburg, departed this life Friday evening at her home in the loving care of her family and hospice. Born in Montgomery County April 24, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Oakley Cornelius and Mary Jane Saul Murdock. “Nannie” was a beloved homemaker, mother, grandmother and attended Bethel Chapel at Clendennin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Albert T. “Bud” Linkous; her son, Terry Wayne and his wife, Carolyn Linkous; her brothers, Norris, June, Eugene, and Louis Murdock; her sisters, Martha Dalton and Betty Whitlock; and her son-in-law, Mark Markley. She leaves to cherish her memory her son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth Edward and Corinne Linkous, of Charlotte, N.C.; her daughters and son-in-law, Joyce Markley, of Tallahassee, Fla., Michelle and Delbert Collins, of Pembroke; her grandchildren, Alex Linkous, of Ohio, Savannah and Duncan Collins, of Pembroke; her brother, William “Bill” and his wife, Faye Murdock, of Blacksburg; her sister, Nancy M. Allen, of Mississippi; and caregiving helpers to whom the family is most grateful, Teresa Santolla and family, Darlene and John Gusler and family, and Patty and Jackie Collins. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Monday in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow Street, Pembroke, with Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memory Gardens in Christiansburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. before the services.
