Richardson, Joan L. Skipper

Joan L. Skipper Richardson, 76, of Blacksburg, died Thursday, June 27, 2013, at Lewis Gale Hospital- Montgomery. She was born in Chicago, Ill. on August 24, 1936, to the late John and Marjorie Fink McCown.

She is survived by her husband, Charles H. “Rick” Richardson; three sons, James K. Skipper III., of Mt. Airy, Md., John F. Skipper, of Laurel, Md., Charles Timothy Richardson, of Ellenton, Fla.; grandchildren, Christopher Skipper, Matthew Skipper, Austin Skipper, Collin Skipper, Paige Skipper, Charles Richardson, Jerry Richardson; her brother, Robert McCown, of Mt. Grove, Ill.; and her beloved cockapoos, Buddy Boy and Tinkerbell. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 1, 2013, in the Blacksburg United Methodist Church with the Rev. Reggie Tuck officiating. Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery, Blacksburg at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 230 East Ohio Street, Suite 304, Chicago, IL 60611. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
