Dunford Jr., Marvin Glen (Butch)

Marvin Glen (Butch) Dunford Jr., 70, of Richlands, formerly of Pearisburg, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, June 13, 2013. Butch graduated from Pearisburg High School in 1961, where he scored the last touchdown for the Pearisburg Red Devils. He served four years in the Air Force, and he retired from Buchanan Mine #1 Consolidated. He was an avid golfer, and played fast pitch softball for several years, proudly wearing the #13.

Butch is preceded in death by an infant son, Steven Glen; father, Marvin Glen Dunford Sr.; and paternal and maternal grandparents. He is survived by his wife, Lottie Dunford; his mother, Iren Dunford, of Pearisburg; sons, Chris M. Dunford, of Narrows, Brian Dunford, of Pensacola, Fla., and Bradley Dunford (Melanie), of Tucson, Ariz.; Dianna L. Price, of Salem; stepchildren, Helen Young, Paula Aust, Aurthur Aust Jr., John Aust, Melissa Aust; 21 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Connie Smith (Travis), of Ocean Springs, Miss. and Sharon Johnson (Charlie), of Pearisburg; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will begin at noon on Monday, June 17, 2013, with the funeral service following at 2 p.m. at Hurst/Scott Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Tazewell.
