Burke Jr., Richard F. (Tiny)

Richard F. (Tiny) Burke Jr., 60, of Shawsville, and formerly of Salem, passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents; paternal and maternal grandparents; a sister; and several cousins.

He is survived by his girlfriend, Marna Akers; son, Jeff Burke; daughter, Sarah Burke; sister, Katie Moushigan and husband, Rich; niece, Kate Walker; nephew, Burke Walker; and very special friends, Michael Brown, and Chuck and Donna Lazenby. Richard enjoyed playing drums and was in several bands in the Roanoke area. He drove a dump truck for a number of years. He was a member of Mountain Top Mission and read his Bible everyday. Special thanks to the doctors and nurses at Lewis Gale Hospital who took care of him. Thank you for the calls, visits and prayers from our friends and family, and a very special thank you to Bill Ryan (Richard’s cousin) for the plot and taking care of interment for Richard. The Funeral Service will be held at noon on Saturday, June 8, 2013, in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Virgil McHone officiating. Interment will follow in Ft. Vause Cemetery, Old Town Road, Shawsville. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the service begins.
