Munsey, Ralph Marvin

Ralph Marvin Munsey of Pearisburg, departed this life on May 18, 2013, at Carilion Giles Community Hospital surrounded by his family. Ralph was born on April 23, 1937 in Giles County, Va. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of over fifty years, Sara Ellen Dennis Munsey and his parents, Ross and Daisy Munsey. He was also preceded in death by seven brothers, Charlie, Bill, Harvey, Jimmy, John, Brewster, Roger and a sister, Mamie Cruise.
Ralph was retired from Hoechst Celanese and he farmed and raised cattle. He was a good neighbor and friend to everyone in his community of Wilburn Valley-Sugar Run and beyond. He was a Christian and faithfully attended Thessalia United Methodist Church.
Ralph is survived by three sons, Marvin (Emily) Munsey, Timothy (Kim) Munsey and Brett Munsey, all of Pearisburg; one grandson, Kyle Munsey and four stepgrandchildren, Cory Falls, Caitlin Falls, Amanda Perkins and J. W. Harris; Ralphs twin brother, Raymond (Joann) of Boise, Idaho; brother Benny (Brenda) of Mt. Hope, West Virginia; sisters, Ann Parsell, Gladys Harris, Maybelle Midkiff (Junior), Martha Cole (Danny) of Pearisburg and Wilma (Joe) Midkiff of Bristol, Va.; sister-in-law, Brenda Munsey of Dublin ; brother-in-law, Irvin Dennis, of Pearisburg; sister-in-law Martha Spicer, of Maryville, Tenn.; and very special and helpful sister-in-law, Barbara Dennis-Lucas, of Pearisburg. He is also survived by many good friends and his church family at Thessalia United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will he held at Thessalia United Methodist Church on Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Charles Henderson and Rev. Amy Bartee officiating. Burial in Birchlawn Burial Park, Pearisburg. Visitation will be at the Church on Monday, May 20, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service time on Tuesday.
The family appreciates flowers but suggests that those wishing to make donations to consider Thessalia United Methodist Church Building Fund which he supported for many years.
