Harvey, Ernest James (Tucker)

Ernest James (Tucker) Harvey, 67, of Mt. Lake Road, Newport, departed this life Wednesday morning, May 1, 2013. Born in Newport February 23, 1946, he was a son of the late Hobert James Harvey and Gladys Meredith Harvey Rock, of Newport. Tucker was a member of Sherry Memorial Christian Church, was a 1966 graduate of Giles High School, was a veteran of the Unites States Army, Viet Nam Era, was a member of DAV, and was self-employed as an auto upholsterer. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Debra Collins Harvey; his daughters and son-in-law, Shannon Harvey Stump, of Christiansburg, and Kimberly and Aaron Myers, of Newport; his mother and stepfather, Gladys M. and Franklin Rock, of Newport; his grandchildren, Matthew Caleb Stump, Haleigh Raeann Myers, Cullen Chadwick Myers, and Mason James Myers; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert B. and Barbara Harvey, of Narrows, Darrell E. and Dorothy Harvey, of Newport; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Doris H. and Ronnie Stiff, of Newport, Patricia H. and Larry Dowdy, of Hoges Chapel; and his granddog and constant companion, Buck. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke, with Pastors Matt Cox and Eddie Kendall officiating. Burial will follow in the Porterfield Cemetery on Mt. Lake Road at Newport with military rites by the VFW and American Legion Posts of this area.
