Black, Harvey N.

Harvey Nathaniel Black Sr., 77, of Pulaski, departed this life on April 20, 2013, at Pulaski Health and Rehab Center. He was born on December 4, 1935, in Radford to the late Mills and Thelma Black. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Pulaski. He was employed by Lynchburg Foundry for 36 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Yvonne Black; daughter, Monica Black; son-in-law, Ronnie Godfrey; stepmother, Katherine Ladson Black Harvey; six brothers, Big June, Charles, James, David, Manous, Windsor Jr.; and three sisters, Betty Best, Mary Frances Woods, and Gretchen Robinson. Harvey is survived by his two sons, Joel Black and Harvey (Mary) Black Jr.; four daughters, Vanessa Black, Donna (Terry) Smith, Debra Godfrey, and Meshell Black. 10 grandchildren ; 12 great- grandchildren; two brothers, William Black and Hezekiah Black; four sisters, Mary Lyons, Sally Black, Dollie (Ralph) Stoddard, Evelyn Calloway; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral Service will be 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2013, at First Baptist Church on Magazine Street, Pulaski, with the Rev. Gary Hash officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will be at Highland Memory Garden, Dublin. Penn’s Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
