George Kelley Thomas, 75, of Christiansburg, passed away Saturday, April 13, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family and went to be with the Heavenly Father above. He is survived by his wife, Susan S. Thomas; daughters, Mary Roop, Dianne Ridgell, Brenda Nicewander, and Wanda Duncan; brothers, Virgil (Link) Thomas and Harvey (Ance) Thomas; sister, Betty Brewer; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. George also loved his special animals of the home and his neighbors’ animals. George was a loving and devoted Christian husband, father, brother, uncle and friend and was loved abundantly by all. The family would like to thank LewisGale Hospital Montgomery, Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Carilion New River Valley Medical Center and Good Samaritan Hospice for all of their care given. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to assist with expenses. The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 16, 2013, from noon to 2 p.m. at New Hope Church of God. A funeral service will follow at the church at 2 p.m. with Pastor T. Michael Bond and Pastor Jamie Cooper officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
