Johnson Sr., Charles Robert

Charles Robert Johnson Sr., 83, departed this life peacefully on Friday, March 15, 2013, at his home in Pearisburg, Va. He was born on September 4, 1929, at Wise County, Va., the son of the late William Earl and Lydia Davidson Johnson. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Elizabeth Johnson; and his daughter, Ginger Elizabeth Collins. Charles was a 50 year member and a past Master of the Giles Masonic Lodge, a member of Ingram Village Methodist Church, and attended Riverview Baptist Church in Ripplemead. Charles was a loving and devoted husband to his surviving wife, Anna B. Johnson for 19 years. He also leaves to cherish his wonderful memories; a stepmother, Ethel Johnson; his son and daughter-in-law, Charles R. Johnson Jr. and wife, Sharon; his daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda Sue and Sidney Fuller, Betty Jean (Totsie) and Ernie Lang, Barbara Kay and Bobby Price; and Libby Kerr; a son-in-law, Danny Collins; children by marriage, Phillip, Paul, John and Daniel Martin, and Sarah Estep; 13 grandchildren; 14 grandchildren by marriage; 17 great-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren by marriage; one great-great- grandchild; and eight siblings. Special thanks to Carilion Hospice for their loving care. A Celebration of the Life of Charles will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 17, 2013, at Riverview Baptist Church, Ripplemead with the Rev. Shahn Wilburn officiating. Burial will follow at Angels Rest Cemetery, Narrows. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 16, 2013, at Riverview Baptist Church from 5 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Riverview Baptist Church or Ingram Village Methodist Church.
