Strader, Elizabeth Anne Jones (Betsy)

Elizabeth Anne Jones (Betsy) Strader, 75, of Pearisburg (Bane Community), went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at her home. Mrs. Strader was born on March 14, 1937, in Christiansburg and was the daughter of the late Alton Parker Jones and Constance Marie Roberts. Beside her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold Douglas Jones and his wife, Betty Lou and A.C. Jones and his wife, Francis Ann; one nephew, Albert Jones and one niece Jennifer R. Jones. Betsy’s love and generosity was limitless. She had a passion for art and music, studied piano for 12 years, and was the pianist for Pleasant Hill Methodist Church for many years. She had a beautiful voice, was a choir member, and could be heard humming hymns any time of day. Her love and devotion extended not only to her family and friends, but to everyone she met. Betsy had a sweet and compassionate soul, a warm and caring heart which will be fondly remembered. She was a light to us all. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Frank Bryan Strader Jr., of Pearisburg; one son, Frank Bryan Strader III, of Pearisburg; one daughter, Cynthia Parker Strader, of Pearisburg; two nephews, Gary S. Jones and wife, Tammy, of Warner Robins, Ga., Harold Douglas Jones Jr. and wife, Bea, of Christiansburg; one niece, Rhonda L. Briel, of Richmond, and a cousin, Penny Whitbeck and her husband, Vern, of Wayne, Mich. Memorial services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, February 23, 2013, at the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church at Bane, with the Rev Amy Bartee officiating. The family will receive friends at the Givens Funeral Home Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Pleasant Hill Methodist Church, c/o Howard O.
