Bird, Madge Ethelyne Bradley

Madge (Polly) Ethelyne Bird, departed this life on February 1, 2013 after battling a long illness. She was born on July 3, 1944 in Giles County, Va. to the late Emmette and Helen Bradley. She married the love of her life, Townsend D. Bird, in 1966 and together they raised a family in Roanoke, until 1985 when they retired and moved to Port Charlotte, Fla. She is survived by her husband of nearly forty-seven years; and their four children, William “Bill” Bird and his wife, Daina, of Port Charlotte, Fla., Shelly Carter and her husband, Steve, of Waynesboro, Va.; Emmette Bird and his wife, Evonne, of Floyd County, Va.; and Travis Bird and his wife, Kristin, of Fredericksburg, Va. She is also survived by two aunts, Kaye Dunford and Ruth McDowell both of Virginia. Lastly, Polly is survived by six loving grandchildren, Ryan, Caitlin, Brandon, Lindsey, Mackenzie, and Avery. Funeral arrangements have not been made at this time.
