King, Sharon Young

Sharon Young King, 51, of Christiansburg, went home to be with our Lord after three and a half years of battling cancer on Wednesday, February 6, 2013, at her mother’s home with her family by her side. She was preceded in death by her father, Dennis Alvin Young, maternal grandparents, Charles and Lula Barker, paternal grandparents, Charlie and Lilly Young. She is survived by her son the light of her life, Matthew Alvin King, her precious and loving mother, Ethel B. Young; her sister and best friend and very special brother-in-law, Karen and Larry Bolt, all of Christiansburg; numerous cousins; very special friends, Doris and Jerry Jones. She graduated from Christiansburg High School in 1980. Sharon worked in the Montgomery County Commissioner of the Revenue office for 17 years. She had numerous friends that she worked with over the years. Thanks for all of the love and support that all her friends have gave her over the years. Special thanks to Dr. McCoy and all his staff, and Dr. Scribner and all his staff for all they did, and a special thanks to Roanoke Memorial Hospital 10th floor oncology department nurses for all the love and support they gave Sharon. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 9, 2013, at 2 p.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Neal Turner officiating. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be to the Christiansburg Fire Department, 110 Depot Street, Christiansburg, VA 24073, or the Christiansburg Rescue Squad, 190 Depot Street, Christiansburg, VA 24073. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
