Robinson, Leon

Leon Robinson, 88, of Radford, passed away Sunday, January 6, 2013, at the Veterans Care Center in Roanoke. He was a member of the Radford Worship Center, retired vehicle mechanic at Radford University and was the former owner and operator of Robinsons Phillips, 66, in East Radford for several years, and then moved to West Radford in 1973. He was a United States Army veteran and member of VFW Post #776. Leon was preceded in death by his wife, Daphine McDaniel Robinson. Survivors include sons, Thomas Lee Robinson and wife, Wanda, of Whitesburg, Ky., George David Robinson, of Paris, Ky., and Tony Leon Robinson, of Radford; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and brothers, Kenneth Robinson, of Las Vegas, N.V. and Eugene Robinson, of Michigan. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford, with Dr. Hal Adams officiating. Interment will follow in the West View Cemetery in Radford, where members of VFW Post #776 will conduct military graveside rites. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
