Harrah, Ruth Ann Wood

Ruth Ann Wood Harrah, 85, of Christiansburg, and formerly of Daniels, W. Va., entered through the gates of Heaven on Saturday, December 22, 2012, at the New River Valley Medical Center in Christiansburg. Mrs. Harrah was born on September 2, 1927, in Stotesbury, W. Va. and resided at Wheatland Hills Retirement Center in Christiansburg. She is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Harrah; her parents, Dennis Wood and Russie Crews Wood; her brother, Edsel Crews Wood; and special niece, Becky Wood. She is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Dennis Floyd Wood II and Elizabeth Wood, of Cary, N.C.; a sister-in-law, Gledis Wood, of Beckley, W. Va.; and three nephews, Dennis F. Wood III, Stephen Edward Wood, and Edsel Carl Wood; special friends, Loretta Stewart Grubb, Joseph and Teresa Chapman, and many friends at Wheatland Retirement Center in Christiansburg. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 27, 2012, from 9 until 11 a.m. at Horne Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, December 27, 2012, at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of Horne Funeral Home, with Pastor Porter Riner officiating.
