DeWitt, Mary Dorothy Moran

Mary Dorothy Moran DeWitt, 94, daughter of James Rufus Moran and Lelia Peters Moran, passed away on December 5, 2012, in Fishersville. She was born in Floyd in 1918. She married Ralph E. DeWitt. They lived in the coal fields of West Virginia for several years; then in Roanoke. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Melvin; a son-in-law, Paul Cheek; infant twin granddaughters; a great-grandson, Josh; and sister-in-law, Essie Moran. She is survived by a daughter, Shelby Cheek, of North Hollywood, Calif.; and two sons and daughters-in-law, Ralph and Martha DeWitt, of Staunton, and Glen and Delores DeWitt, of Hermitage, Tenn.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held Sunday, December 9, 2012, at Restvale Cemetery with Mr. Mitchell Floyd officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Gardner Funeral Home, Floyd.
