Susan T. Anker, loving wife and mother, 72, of Christiansburg, peacefully passed away at her home with her children by her side on Wednesday, December 5, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Bernard Anker; parents, Alex and Pearl Yarnot; and brother, David Yarnot. She is survived by her son, Joel Anker and wife, Georgiann; daughter, Rachel Anker-Johnson and husband, Chris; grandchildren, Selena Anker, Kellen Anker, Coleman Anker, and Adam Anker; beloved cat, Tommy Henry; sister, Christine Brooks, of Friendswood, Texas; sister-in-law, Shirl Skarda, of Sussex, Wis.; and nieces and nephews, Juliann Brooks, Aaron Brooks, Mary Brooks, Becky Steele and Christopher Yarnot. Susan took pride and joy in decorating her home, knitting and needlework, cooking for her family and friends, and enjoyed reading, especially poetry, and listening to classical music. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, December 8, 2012, at Horne Funeral Home, Christiansburg. The Funeral Services will follow at noon in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Angie Hoff officiating. A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, December 10, 2012, at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Fla.
