Klawitter, Elizabeth Shufflebarger

Elizabeth S. Klawitter (Liz, nee Shufflebarger), passed away Friday, November 28, 2012. Liz was born and raised in Christiansburg. She also resided in Detroit, Mich., Topsfield, Mass. and, for most of her life, in Reading, Pa. Liz was a graduate of Christiansburg High School and the University of Virginia School of Nursing. She worked as a nurse at Radford Community Hospital and New Altamont Hospital. Liz was a volunteer at the Women’s Exchange in West Reading, Pa. for many years. She was an avid gardener and was frequently seen walking in her neighborhood of Greenfields. Liz is survived by her three children, Deborah Klawitter (Mark Talachi), Michael Klawitter (Marjorie L.), and M. Beth Klawitter(Sherry L. Dowdy). She is also survived by six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and her sister, Frances Shufflebarger Tate, wife of Charles Thomas (Tommy) Tate; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved twin sister Mary Virginia, her sister Sallie and her brother Edwin. Relatives and friends are invited to her service at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 103 E. Main St., Christiansburg, 24073 on Tues. December 4, 2012, at 1 p.m. There will be an opportunity to greet the family at the church one hour prior to the service.
