Howell, Lois Joy

Lois Joy Howell, 72, of Christiansburg, died Wednesday, November 28, 2012, at Lewis Gale Hospital- Montgomery. She was born in Bergen County, N.J. on August 3, 1940, to the late Angelo J. and Adele G. Rossi. She received her B.A. from Ursinus, M.A. from Paterson State University, as well an additional M.S. from Radford University. She retired from Floyd County High School as a history teacher. Mrs. Howell was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband, James M. Howell, of Christiansburg; daughters, Dawn Adele Wiese, and husband, Larry, of Lexington, Cheryl Schumacher and husband, Jason, New Smyrna Beach, Fla., Caryn Krumwiede, Altamont Springs, Fla.; son, James Holm (Trey) Howell, of Staunton; grandchildren, Jillian Watkins, Fisher Gregg Schumacher; sister, Linda Dudas and husband, John, of Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J.; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives. Memorial services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, December 2, 2012, in the St. Paul United Methodist Church with the Rev. Michael Copeland officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Paul Methodist Church.
