Scagel, Marie Ellouise

Marie Ellouise Scagel, of Christiansburg, formerly of Bloomfield, Conn., passed on Friday, November 16, 2012. She was born June 18, 1923 in Houlton, Maine and was the daughter of the late Avis Hannon and Ansel D. Hatfield. On June 27, 1942, she married the late Donald Harold Scagel in Hartford, Conn. and they were married for 33 years. Marie stayed at home to raise five children and then learned how to drive and worked at Alvin’s in Bloomfield for 21 years. Marie was predeceased by her sister, Margaret Hatfield, her brother, Alvin Hatfield and her daughter, Sandra Joy Scagel Madore. She is survived by her sister, Rena Grant, of Houlton, Maine; her three sons, Michael H. Scagel and wife, Dawn Griswold, of Torrington, Conn., Donald H. Scagel Jr. and wife, Natalie Ricciardo, of Windsor Locks, Conn., Timothy A. Scagel and wife, Linda Morrissey, of Heuvelton, N.Y.; and her daughter, Nancy A. Scagel, of Christiansburg. She will be missed by her grandchildren, Tina Madore, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Patrick Madore, of Manchester, Conn., Carolyn Scagel Pezzenti, of Manchester, Conn., Patrick Scagel, of Winsted, Conn., Emily Scagel, of Windsor Locks, Conn., Jennifer Siegel, of Maynard, Mass., Aidan Scagel, Todd Thiel, Brian Thiel and James Kian, of Heuvelton, N.Y., Christopher Willis, of Christiansburg and David and Lisa Willis, of Glendale, Ariz. She will also be missed by her three great-grandchildren, Ashleigh and Jeremy Madore, of Newington, Conn. and Cody Becher, of Manchester, Conn. Also, the family wishes to thank all the staff on 3 East at Richfield Recovery and Care Center in Salem for their loving and kind care given to Marie these last eight months. The family is being served by McCoy Funeral Home & Crematory in Blacksburg.
