Roberts, Margaret Ann

Margaret Ann Roberts, 85, of Christiansburg, Blacksburg, Portsmouth and Bluefield passed away at Roanoke Memorial Hospital early Saturday morning, November 3, 2012, surrounded by children, grandchildren, and family that loved and adored her. She was a graduate of Churchland High School, worked as a Bank Teller and as an LPN at both a Hospital ER and at Doctors Offices, but her primary joy was as a wife, mother, and especially grandmother, great-grandmother, and as caretaker and companion to her dogs and other animal friends who often followed her home. She was happiest when bringing help, comfort and joy to others. She was a long time active member at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church in Portsmouth and then Christ Episcopal Church in Blacksburg. She was predeceased by Douglas Lee Roberts, her husband of 56 years. Her survivors include her children, Geri-Lynn Roberts and her partner Kermit Coots of Portsmouth and her children, Karl, Tim, Rene, and George; Douglas Lee Roberts Jr. and his wife Alida of Las Vegas and his children, Ashley, Jaime, Grace, Marni, and Regina; Steve Roberts and his wife Cheryl of Blacksburg and their children, Madison, Shelby, and Ellery; James Roberts and his wife Natalia of Centreville and their children, William, Maria, Sophia and James Ganam. She is also survived by her great- grandchildren, Dylan, Tyler, Cody, Angelita Danielle, Megan, Benjamin, Cimorene, Trinity, Wyatt, and by her sister-in-law, Sharon Slauter and her husband John of Boston. McCoy Funeral Home of Blacksburg will handle the funeral arrangements. A Memorial Service will be held at Christ Episcopal Church, Monday, November 5, 2012, 1 p.m., with the Rev. Scott West officiating, where her ashes will be joined with those of her husband. A reception will follow and all family and friends are welcome.
