Gilmore, Thelma Parcell

Thelma Parcell Gilmore, 78, of Tabaccoville, N.C., passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2012. She was born in Princeton, W.Va., on May 2, 1934 to Carl W. and Geneva Parcell. Thelma graduated from Pearisburg High School in Pearisburg, Va., in the Class of 1953. She was employed by C & P Telephone Company in Pearisburg as telephone operator and in the business office. She retired from the Kroger Company in Winston-Salem with over 20 years service. Thelma was preceded in death by her parents and two infant daughters. Surviving Thelma is her husband of over 57 years, Teddy Gilmore, of Tobaccoville, N.C.; sons, Dirk Gilmore and wife, Marilyn Bron Gilmore, of Yadkinville, N.C., and Brad Gilmore and fiance, Frances Young, of Newland, N.C.; grandson, Deaton Gilmore and friend, Ashley Burton, of Wilmington, N.C.; sisters, Ethel Hare, of Pearisburg, Va., Janice Roark, of Christiansburg, Va., Wanda Rhodes and husband, Sammy, of Pearisburg, Va., Sandra Moser, of Wytheville, Va., and Deborah Bridges and husband, Darrell, of Wytheville, Va.; and brothers, Donald Parcell and wife, Sue, of Christiansburg, Va., Charles Parcell and wife, Karen, of Rock Hill, S.C. A Memorial Service will be conducted at 7 p.m. on Friday evening, October 26, 2012, at Calvary Christian School, 748 Spainhour Road, King, NC 27021. The family would like to thank all the nurses on the 9th Floor of Forsyth Medical Center and a special thanks to Dr. Thomas Grote and Dr. Laura Foster for their compassionate facilitation of Thelma’s care.
