Montgomery, Earl Leo
Earl Leo Montgomery, 65, of Narrows, passed away Monday, October 8, 2012, at Lewis Gale Montgomery in Blacksburg. Leo was born on May 25, 1947, in Narrows. He was the son of the late Samuel Fleming and Mary Mildred Mundy Montgomery. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Edward Montgomery. Leo was retired from the United States Air Force as a security policeman with 20 years service and with the rank of Master Sergeant. He worked at the Bland Correctional Facility as a Recreational Officer, as an investigator with the Giles County Sheriff’s Department and Narrows Police Department and retired as a chief with 16 years of service. He was a member of the Blue Knights and American Legion Post 68. He enjoyed hunting and riding his motorcycle. He was a member of Princeton First Church of the Nazarene. Leo is survived by his wife, Betty; two daughters, Monica Montgomery, of Wisconsin and Christy Montgomery, of North Dakota; three brothers, David F. Montgomery, of California, Samuel Steven Montgomery and wife, Jean, of Richmond, Roy Lee Montgomery and wife, Gloria, of Pearisburg; two grandchildren; five nephews and four nieces. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, October 11, 2012, in the Chapel of Riffe’s Funeral Service in Narrows with the Rev. John Branham officiating. Burial and full military rights will follow in the Birchlawn Burial Park Pearisburg.
