Edge, Charles Edward

Charles Edward Edge, 91, of Blacksburg, and formerly of Rock Hill, S.C., died on Friday, August 24, 2012, at Lewis Gale Hospital-Montgomery. He was born in Polk County, Ga., on August 16, 1921, to the late John Arthur and Lillian Vincent Edge. He was the fifth of six children and the last surviving one. He was raised in Cedartown, Ga. He graduated from Newberry College. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the United States Army. He retired from Celanese, Celriver Plant in Rock Hill, S.C. He was an avid outdoorsman and gardener. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Frances Boliek Edge; two children, Charles W. Edge, of Lexington, N.C., and Kay F. Edge, of Blacksburg, Va.; and two grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff at Virginia Tech Adult Day Services for their kind care for the last three years. Memorial Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Monday, August 27, 2012, in the St. Michael Lutheran Church, 2308 Merrimac Road, Blacksburg, with the Rev. John Wertz officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following services at the church.
