June Estellene Abbott Lugar, 85, of Newport, and Yadkinville, N.C., died Sunday, August 5, 2012, at Forsyth Hospital, Winston-Salem, N.C. She was born in Craig County, on June 3, 1927, to the late Clarence Dewey and Bertie Brickey Abbott. Also preceding her in death were her husband, Russell Brown Lugar; and a brother, Curtis Randolph Abbott. She is survived by her children, Frances Carol Lugar Alderman, Yadkinville, N.C., Doris Ann Lugar Beauchemin (Ed), Chesterfield, David Russell Lugar (Joy), Mt. Pleasant, N.C., Alan Ray Lugar (Diane), New Castle; six grandchildren, Caroline Joy Alderman, Fairfax, Brandon Edmond Beauchemin, Fletcher, N.C., Aaron Russell Beauchemin (Kerry), Media, Pa., Amy Rebecca Lugar (Tony Johnson), Chester, Christopher David Lugar, McCoy, Emma Mariah Lugar Reynolds, Concord, N.C.; four great-grandchildren, Ella Rose Beauchemin, Sadie Ann Beauchemin, Elizabeth Nicole Lugar, William Christopher Lugar; and a brother, Lyle Clayton Abbott. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 8, 2012, at Level Green Christian Church, 3388 Cumberland Gap Road, Newport, with Minister Harold Morris officiating. Interment will follow in the Hypes Family Cemetery, Newport. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Simmonsville Fire Department, c/o Bryan Lipes, Treasurer, 7932 Cumberland Gap Road, New Castle, VA 24127.
