Painter, Franklin Wade

Franklin Wade Painter, 78, of Christiansburg, passed away Saturday, July 28, 2012 in his home surrounded by his family. He served in the United States Air Force for twenty years and retired in June of 1972. Mr. Painter worked as a security guard at Federal Mogul in Blacksburg till his time of death. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earnest and Helen Painter, five brothers, and one sister. Mr. Painter is survived by his loving wife of 47 years Carolyn Painter; daughter, Carolyn Elaine Link; three grandchildren, T.W. Link, Dakota and wife Kayla Link, and Sierra Link; and two great-grandchildren, Lakota Link and Miranda Boyd; and brother, Roland L. Painter. Friends may call between the hours of 5 and 8 p.m. Monday, July 30, 2012 at Horne Funeral Home in Christiansburg. The funeral service will be Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Cambria Baptist Church with the Rev. Keith Crowgey and the Rev. Michael Cox officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Recupero, Dr. McCoy, and all the staff at Montgomery Regional Hospital.
