Lynch, Verna

Verna Lynch, 84, of Christiansburg, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 10, 2012. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Freeman Cox and Lala Dovie Simmons Cox; brother, Thurman Cox; sister, Eleanor Alderman; and sons-in-law, Harvey Ray Armstrong and Michael Merritt. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, John William Lynch; daughters, Judith Armstrong, Brenda Merritt, and Bonita Dudley; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Sonny (Linda) Alderman, Tommy (Sally) Alderman, and Anna Zurlo and husband; beloved caregivers, Whitney Smith, Pat Lovern, Jenny Branscom, Sylvia Slaughter, and Missy Yates, and MediHome Health & Hospice; as well as many other beloved neighbors and friends. Verna was a member of Park United Methodist Church and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 13, 2012, from noon to 1 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home with the funeral service to commence at 1 p.m. in the chapel. Pastor Charles DeHart will officiate.
