Pinkard, Betty Cooper

Betty Cooper Pinkard, age 89 of Pulaski, died Thursday June 21, 2012 at Highland Ridge Rehabilitation Center in Dublin. She was born October 24, 1922 in Draper and was the daughter of the late Ida Safewright Cooper and Homer Dewey Cooper. She was a former employee of Jefferson Mills for over 22 years, was a member of the First Church of The Brethren, and attended the Trinity United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Pinkard, three sisters, Mamie Lawson, Lula Bell Peek, and Beatrice Gallagher. She is survived by two daughters; Barbara Saunders and her husband Nick of Richmond, and Linda Grantham and her husband Gale of Pulaski: a son; John Edwin “Jerry” Pinkard and his wife Judy of Charlotte, NC. Also survived by seven grandchildren; Kristi Young and her husband Richard of Mt. Pleasant, SC, John Pinkard of Indian Trail, NC, Susan Saunders of Washington, DC, Nicholas Saunders and Mercedes of Washington, DC, Angie Phillips and her husband Rodney of Dublin, Todd Grantham and his wife Paige of Athens, GA, Tony Grantham and his wife Molly of Annapolis, MD, along with ten great-grandchildren. The family also recognizes a very long-time and special friend, Myrtle Sutphin.
