Witten, Love Parr

Love Parr Witten, 91, of Pearisburg, passed away Friday January 20, 2012, in Roanoke. Mrs. Witten was born on February 13, 1920, in Russell Co., and was a daughter of the late James Moore Parr and Myrtle Jane Wilson Parr. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 72 years, James Alexander Witten Sr.; and several brothers and sisters. She is survived by one son, Dr. James Alexander Witten Jr. and his wife, Lois; one daughter, Jane Witten Koontz and her husband, Donald, of Sarasota, Fla.; one sister, Lottie Parr Markin, of Sarasota, Fla.; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Pearisburg at 11 a.m . Saturday, May 19, 2012, with Dr. Brad Scott and Dr. Fred Austin officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that any donations be made to the Pearisburg First United Methodist Church or the Giles County Historical Society.
