Gautier, Virginia Rose Hale
Virginia Rose Hale Gautier, 92, of Narrows, departed this life Saturday, May 12, 2012 at Riverview Nursing and Rehabilitation in Rich Creek, surrounded by her loving family. A lifelong resident of Giles County, she was born in Narrows on August 9, 1919 and was the daughter of the late James Edward and Martha Geneva Midkiff Hale. In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Lee Gautier; five brothers, Cecil, Ferdinand, Bernard, Kester and Loren; two sisters, Elizabeth and Lucy; and four stepchildren, Pauline, Mary, Russell and Raymond. Virginia loved flowers, children, and was an avid card player and wonderful cook. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister, she will be dearly missed by her family and many friends. She leaves to cherish her memory her sons and daughters, and their spouses, Frances and the late Jim Epling, of Pearisburg, Lillian Hatcher, of Pearisburg, Thomas and Linda Gautier, of Narrows, James (Jimmy) and Mary Gautier, of Narrows, Janice and Wayne Collins, of Shawsville, Joyce Kiger, of Pearisburg, Jerry and Sandy Gautier, of Pembroke, Richard and Angie Gautier, of Pearisburg, and a stepdaughter, Irene Boyd, of Narrows. She also leaves twenty grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many special friends, including her extended family at Riverview Nursing and Rehabilitation in Rich Creek. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Riffe’s Funeral Service in Narrows with Pastor Greg Cox officiating. Burial will follow in the Gautier Family Cemetery on Fletcher Mountain Road between Narrows and Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at Riffe’s Funeral Service Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. The family will gather at 313 Horsley Drive; Pearisburg, Virginia.
