rollins mary dyerMary Madeline Dyer Rollins was born February 13, 1920, in Draper, to John Henry and Melinda Austin Dyer. Mary Rollins was known as the “Dragon Lady” and drove a school bus and the bookmobile for Pulaski County School System for 25 years. Mary is predeceased by her husband, Stanley Theodore Rollins, brothers; Fountain Dyer, Henry Dyer, John Dyer; sisters, Oscie Hogans, Pearl Calloway, and Annie Dyer; children, Amos Hogans, and Jerome Hogans. Mary is survived by her daughters, Madgdline R. Nicholas, Cynthia R. Gladden (Alphonso), Carolyn R. Jones (James); sons, Stanley T. Rollins Jr. (Marian), John S. Rollins (Sandra), Leon Russell, Oscar Russell, Jethro “Billy” Hogans, and James Henry Hogans; brothers, Moses Dyer (Carol), James Dyer (Simone); special grandchildren, Teresa Watson and Deborah Reed; and seven additional grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchild;en, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. Memorial services will take place on 1 p.m. Saturday, May 12, 2012, at Stevens Funeral Home, 815 Randolph Avenue, Pulaski, VA 24301. The family will receive friends beginning at noon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Randolph Avenue United Methodist Church Building Fund, 1607 Randolph Avenue, Pulaski, VA 24301 or Daily Bread of Pulaski, 408 Jefferson Avenue, North, Pulaski, VA 24301.
