Elliot, Emory Carlos (Ras)

Emory Carlos (Ras) Elliot, 81, of Blacksburg died Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at Lewis Gale Hospital- Montgomery. He was born in Vicker’s Switch, Montgomery County on April 20, 1931, to the late Jesse Black and Elizabeth Kent Hall Elliott, and was also preceded in death by his wife, Clana Ruth Price Elliott; brothers, James (Jim), Frank, and Marshall (Buck); sister, Stella Mae Elliott. Ras, with his wife, Ruth, ran the Riverway Store for 21 years. He is survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Linda D. Elliott and friend, Bill Greer, of Blacksburg, Brenda Elliott Farhan and her husband, Taoufik (Tu) Farhan, of Fairfax; granddaughter, Jessica Nicole Farhan, of Fairfax; nephews, Butch Keister, Michael Keister, Alfred Lee (Bucky) Keister, all of Florida, Roderick Elliott, and Robert Elliott, both of Blacksburg. Ras is also survived by a special relative, Larry Sheppard and his wife , Ruby, and their daughter, Christie and her husband, Frankie, and their son, Hunter Stanley, all of Blacksburg; and other special relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, May 7, 2012, in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Jimmie Lee Price officiating. Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery, Blacksburg. The family will receive friends from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg. 540-552-3211.
